An environment specialist in Michigan, Alex Sagady, says that a budget proposed for the next twelve months, 2009 - 2010, hasn’t made provision for asbestos inspections. The budget was put forward by Governor Jennifer Granholm. It is feared that it will impact clean air standards. Waste disposal and demolition may not now be monitored so closely.

However, laws remain in place, but asbestos inspections would be reduced. This will not be now as effective during demolitions and renovations, says Sagady.
